Women’s Spring/Summer 2011 Key Trends

The 70’s are back! We’re talking 70s sophisticated glamour.  We all want that vintage vibe in our wardrobes and now’s the time to do it!   Get looking in your local vintage shops.  A massive key to this look is confidence – the colours are bright.  Electric accessories are a great way to work this trend into your wardrobe look for bags and shoes to get that hit of colour.  Another good tip is to pick one vibrant shade and wear from top to bottom.

Key pieces for 70s glamour;

·        Floppy felt hat
·        Bring out your exotic jewels! Pile on that jewellery rings, loads of bangles and long pendant necklaces.
·        High platforms
·        High waisted wide-leg pants or flares, smartly belted in.
·        Neat bow-blouses, especially ones with billowing or bishop sleeves. Particularly great are fabrics like silk and satin.
·        Roll neck sweaters tucked into pants or skirts. Add to the '70s effect by layering over beaded necklaces or a vest.
·        For those more daring, a pair of hot pants are the ultimate '70s item.
·        A smart printed jumpsuit is another great alternative.
  • Definitely one for you tall girls  – The Wide leg trouser.
Biker Fashion

Let me help you with the key elements to this trend!

Motorbike Jacket
This is your key statement piece for this look!  Things to look for on the jacket are zipped sleeves as well as quilted material.

Leather Pants

Again with the pants it’s all about the detailing (you could also use skin hugging materials as alternative to leather).

The skirted Alternative

In my opinion the perfect alternative for a statement piece instead of the motorbike jacket.

Motorbike boots

Of course no biker look is complete without the biker boots!

Punk Fashion

Although personally I love the edginess of this trend but please do be careful if this is a look you’d like to try as this is definitely a trend you can’t afford to get wrong.  I think the way to carry it off is pick elements of the trend and mix it with your staples in your wardrobe.  Giving your outfit that punk-rock edge!

Let me help you with the key things to look for when your shopping if you would like to work this trend into your look;

·       Studs (on jacket, or maybe look for a accessories like bags or I have a leather cuff with studs on)
·       Heavy Boots – why not try some doc martens, or biker ones.
·       Safety pins – I have to say these are iconic to punk!  Think how you can work them in to your look with brooches, jewellery, pins for scarves and on your cardigans.

60’s Ladylike

When we talk about the '60s dress or skirt in this context, we're not talking about the later, mod '60s movement of miniskirts and teeny shift dresses. We're talking about early '60s ladylike dressing that flowed on from the late 1950s.

Key pieces to look for;

Full Skirt – the 60s housewife

·       Full, below-the knee, circle skirts, clinched in waists, prim and proper styling.
·       Heavier fabrics

Accessorising a 60’s Ladylike

·       Kitten heels (I know I hate them too but unfortunately they are in )
·       For those with a more dramatic side bold red lips or soft pink for the more natural.
·       Cats-eye glasses
·       Wide belts, gloves, classic headscarf
·       For hair it’s all hail the beehive

How you can modernise the 60s look;

·        Knee high socks
·        Cropped jacket showing you tummy
·        Hair in a messy topknot or side braid.

Love this look……

New Year New You!

Happy New Year ...
Love Chameleon x x

Helping You To Change Your Karma

So its official….the cheese and wine parties and bad taste Christmas jumpers parties are over! The selection boxes have been eaten (mine was demolished on Christmas night!)  And we can no longer get away with saying "yes I will have some more…well it is Christmas!"  Well that’s fine.... now we can now properly make a start on our new year’s resolutions!

So what is it this year?
 Change of Image? Make sure I look great at the weddings I go to this year? Get out of my style rut? Stop buying things I don't need? Get rid of all the things in my wardrobe I don't wear?

I've got loads of resolutions but this year the main one is to start writing a blog! I've always been, shall we say, quite opinionated!!!... Particularly where clothes are concerned! This is definitely one of the reasons I'm an image consultant!  But anyway I thought what a good way of sharing my opinions with even more people so here I am!

Clothes have always been a massive passion of mine - I love the power of clothes. I love how they can make you feel, I love how they can not only change your personality but also change how people respond to you. I've decided for me 2011 is going to be a year of action and spontaneity!

So I've started...........

What are you hoping for in 2011??

Why not make 2011 your most stylish year yet with Chameleon Image Consultancy!
